I grew up on the East Coast of Canada so it was a real pleasure to be invited to speak at the 2013 Halifax Pop Explosion Digital Conference. HPX Digital is the East Coast version of SxSW and NxNE. Only in it's 2nd year, it has managed to pull off an interesting line of speakers and musicians, including an AMAZING keynote from Johnny Cupcakes.
I gave a talk on how startups are changing marketing as we know it. Marketing has changed so much since I got my first job in the early 90s and it's cool to be in an era where startups have an advantage over their larger-company counterparts, an era where startups are marketing themselves in ways that hint at the future of marketing.
It was fun to put this talk together, as it gave me an opportunity to tell the stories of dozens of startups. I made a few adjustments so it would read okay without audio. Enjoy and let me know what you think!
